Woman Killed After Maryville Crash

Blount County, TN (March 31, 2021) The Blount County Sheriff’s Office reports that a woman was killed while another man was hospitalized following a car crash that occurred late on March 31st. The woman was a passenger in a vehicle, while the man was the driver.

Around 9:15 on March 31st, a Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling in the 4300 block of Sevierville Road when he discovered a crashed vehicle. Deputies with the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene. The investigation determined that the driver was traveling south when his vehicle exited the right side of the road, crossed a driveway, and continued for a short distance before colliding with a tree. While the driver was wearing a seatbelt, the passenger was not. The vehicle’s airbags did not deploy in the crash. Additional details about the crash are still under investigation.

Data reveals that trees are the most commonly struck object. Approximately 48% of deaths in fixed object crashes in 2019 involved a motorist who struck a tree. Remember, even if your accident involved a collision with another tree, there still might be another party to blame.
