Two People Injured After Vehicle Rolls Over on Interstate 40 West

Knoxville, TN (January 4, 2021) Two people were injured on the evening of January 4th after law enforcement states that a vehicle flipped and rolled multiple times on Interstate 40. Based on law enforcement’s investigation, the vehicle was traveling on Interstate 40 West when it collided with the center wall, crossed traffic, struck a pole on the right shoulder of the road, and flipped multiple times. The two unidentified passengers were ejected from the vehicle with serious injuries. The exact cause of the crash remains uncertain, but an investigation is pending.

The insurance Information Institute reports that in 2017, 1,431 motorists lost their lives as a result of collisions with poles and posts. These crashes represent just one of the most common types of stationary object accidents. One of the best ways to reduce the risk of crashes with stationary objects is to understand that these hazards can result in serious collisions and to take defensive driving measures. Defensive driving in this situation means limiting the number of situations where your vehicle is likely to collide with a stationary object even if someone else on the road were to cause a crash.
