Rescue Workers Search for Missing Woman After Boat Capsizes

Hamilton County, TN (January 15, 2021) Rescue workers are searching for a woman who is one of three people whose boat capsized while canoeing on Chickamauga Reservoir close to Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. A report of an overturned boat with three boaters was received around 5:30 in the afternoon on January 15th. Rescue workers found one man on shore and boat crews also located one woman along the bank. Both individuals were transported to CHI Memorial Hospital for the treatment of cold water immersion symptoms. Adverse weather conditions have made search and recovery efforts challenging. While the canoes have since been recovered, the boaters were not wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.
