Multiple Vehicle Crash Occurs on Interstate 40 West

CarCrash3

Knoxville, TN (November 16, 2020) The Tennessee Department of Transportation reports that a multiple vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 40 West near Hollywood Road on the morning of October 16th. Traffic on the interstate was backed up as the left lane was closed so crews could clear the scene of the crash. Drivers have been requested to move to the right lane to get safely around traffic. The accident was cleared several hours later. Additional details about the accident including what caused it and whether anyone was injured remain uncertain.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that in 2018 there were 1,894,000 injuries associated with police-reported motor vehicle accidents. It is likely that many other unreported injuries also occurred. Whether intentional or not, the choices that drivers make behind the wheel influence a large number of car crashes. Some of the most common driving patterns that are known to result in car crashes include distracted driving, speeding, driving too slowly, intoxicated driving, fatigued driving, failing to use turn signals, disobeying traffic control devices, and failing to check blind spots.
