Multiple Vehicle Accident Occurs on Interstate 40

CarCollision

Nashville, TN (July 17, 2020) Sections of Interstate 40 were recently closed after a multiple-vehicle accident that occurred on the morning of July 17th. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has since cleared the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly past the Old Hickory Boulevard Exit 199 on Interstate 40 Eastbound.

Data compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that in 2016, 34,439 car accidents involving fatalities occurred. This equates to 95 deadly vehicle accidents in the United States each day. An even larger number of people are seriously injured in accidents.

Among the many types of vehicle accidents, one of the most overwhelming types are multiple vehicle collisions. This article reviews some safety strategies that you can follow if you are involved in such an accident.

  • Immediately contact emergency services, even if you do not believe that you were seriously injured in the collision.
  • Be cautious about what you say to law enforcement as well as any other involved drivers. This means that you should avoid admitting fault. Even accidental admissions can be used against you later.
  • Document as much of the accident scene as you can, provided it is safe to do so. This includes the other driver’s contact information, personal information for anyone who saw the accident occur, photographs of vehicle damage, and copies of police reports.
  • Before giving a recorded statement to your insurance carrier, it is a good idea to speak with a knowledgeable attorney.
