Knoxville crash leaves 2 injured

A car accident that occurred on March 17 near Knoxville left two people with injuries. Knox County police reported that the 28-year-old driver of a black BMW was drag racing on Chapman Highway prior to the crash.

The incident occurred just before 6:35 a.m. Both vehicles were reportedly heading south on the highway when the driver of the black BMW lost control of his vehicle. The BMW reportedly struck the Infiniti. The impact caused the Infiniti to spin around and cross into the oncoming lanes where it collided with a Ford van. The collision caused severe damage to the Infiniti and several cars that were parked in a nearby car lot.

Authorities took the 22-year-old driver of the Infiniti and a passenger who was in the cargo van at the time of the accident to a nearby medical center for treatment of unknown injuries. It was not known if the driver of the BMW suffered any injuries. The Infiniti’s driver reportedly told police that he had not been involved in the alleged drag racing, though they did ultimately cite the driver of the BMW. It was not believed that drugs or alcohol played any role in causing the crash.

If a driver causes an auto accident while operating their vehicle in a reckless manner, those who suffered injuries may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit against the reckless driver.
