Knoxville Baby Viciously Attacked by Dog: Rights and Options of Dog Bite Survivors under Tennessee Personal Injury Laws
Dogs are not only “man’s best friend,” but for many Knoxville residents they are part of the family. Indeed, our canine companions are some of the most important beings in many of our lives, and it is often hard to separate them from our biological human kin. However, the truth of the matter is that even the gentlest dog may have a bad day, and dog owners (and dog parents) may not be aware that their canine family member can snap and seriously injure another person. A recent fatal dog bite attack against a Knoxville baby demonstrates this scary point, and is a stark reminder to Knoxville residents that dog bite attacks can and do occur.
According to news reports covering the story, earlier this year in May, 2024, a 6-week-old Knoxville baby was killed by the family dog after being viciously attacked while asleep in his crib. Parents of the young baby state that the baby, named Ezra, was taking a nap in his crib, when the couple’s Husky attacked the young infant “out of nowhere”. The family had owned the Husky, and it had been part of the family for eight years before the harrowing and fatal incident occurred. Chloe Mansoor, the baby’s mother, stated of the incident, “Being his mom was the biggest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done…And to just bring awareness that it could be any dog at any time. Completely unprovoked, no matter what the history is.” Ms. Mansoor added, “Really don’t take anything for granted, even if it’s a moment, you’re annoyed in the moment or frustrated in. All of those little moments are still so amazing.”
The Husky was ultimately taken to an animal center, and the grieving family decided to help other families going through tough situations through organ donation.
