Icy Roads in Hartsville Cause Crash Involving Tennessee Deputy
Hartsville, TN (February 14, 2021) A Tennessee deputy was involved in a rollover crash that occurred on the morning of February 14th. The Trousdale County Sheriff’s Office states that the deputy was on his way to work when he struck black ice. His patrol vehicle then exited the road and went down an embankment. The deputy is not reported to have been seriously injured in the accident.
The Federal Highway Administration reports that more than 70 percent of the country’s roads are located in snowy areas, which receive more than five inches of snowfall on average. Consequently, each year, 24 percent of weather-related car crashes occur on snowy or icy roads and 15 percent of these crashes occur during periods of snow or sleet. These accidents result in more than 1,300 people being killed and more than 116,800 individuals getting injured each year.
It’s a good idea to prepare yourself as you travel over Tennessee’s icy and snowy roads this winter. This means you should have an adequate amount of fuel in your gas tank as well as an emergency kit in your case. This emergency kit should include things like protein snacks, water, warm gloves, a first aid kit, work gloves, a blanket, jumper cables, and road flares.
