Electrical Fire Leads to Ambulance Damage

shutterstock_1495131698

Cumberland County, TN (January 25, 2021) A Cumberland County ambulance experienced an electrical fire late on the morning of January 25th at Rotherham and Catoosa Boulevard. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The road, however, was temporarily blocked for a time as crews extinguished the blaze and towed the vehicle from the scene of the accident.

The US Fire Administration has found that insulation around electrical wiring or cables was responsible for 29 percent of all highway vehicle fires. Insulation, however, is only responsible for 2 percent of deadly fires and 2 percent of deaths. If your vehicle catches fire, one of the best things that you can do is to stop your vehicle and turn off the ignition. Drivers should then get every person out of the vehicle and not allow anyone back to retrieve anything. It’s then a good idea to move far from the moving vehicle to avoid flames and toxic fumes as well as to keep bystanders away from the blaze.
