Car Crash Occurs on Interstate 40 West

CraCrash

Roane County, TN (October 10, 2020) An accident occurred on Interstate 40 westbound in Roane County on October 10th. While the accident occurred around 12:11 pm, the collision was scheduled to be cleared by 1:15 pm. Westbound traffic was temporarily impacted and the left lane of Interstate 40 westbound was blocked. Eastbound traffic, however, was not impacted. Motorists who were passing through the area were exercised to use caution. Additional details about the accident are still pending.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2008 National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Survey found that human error is the critical reason for approximately 93% of all car crashes. This does not mean that this many accidents are directly caused by human error but that human error played a substantial role in the accident. Recognition error is one of the most common causes of car crashes. This category includes things like distracted driving. Decision error is another common cause of vehicle accidents and includes things like speeding, illegal maneuver, and misjudging how other motorists will perform. Performance error is another common cause of accidents and includes over-compensating or poor vehicle control. Non-performance error is another common category and includes falling asleep at the wheel.
