The exact cause of the accident as well as whether anyone was injured in the collision still remains under investigation.

The National Safety Council has found that tens of thousands car accidents occur each year in parking lots, which results in hundreds of deaths as well as thousands of injuries. These accidents are a result of many factors, but one of the most common causes of parking lot accidents are motorists who use cell phones while driving.

Safety Advice for Avoiding Parking Lot Accidents

While it might not work in every situation, some of the critical steps that motorists can take to avoid the risk of ending up in parking lot accidents include:

  • Even if your vehicle is equipped with a rear-view camera, make sure to look when backing up due to the risk of dangers falling in the camera’s blind spots
  • Observe traffic directions in the parking lot including stop signs
