Tennessee woman speaks out about recent I-40 accident
On Friday, Oct. 3, a six-car pile-up resulted in four injuries and the death of a family of four from Kentucky. According to investigators, the accident occurred in the evening when four vehicles collided with two vehicles that were stopped in the middle lane of Interstate 40 for an unknown reason.
A Tennessee woman involved in the pile-up said she stopped her car when she saw the two vehicles in the middle of the road. After doing this, a vehicle collided with her and the impact knocked her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, the first thing she saw was a mangled vehicle and one of the fatally injured family members. The woman was transferred to a hospital and was released later that evening. She came away from the wreck with neck, back and leg injuries.
After the accident, a 24-year-old man was charged with implied consent and driving under the influence. A Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman stated that the accident is still under investigation.
When a serious car accident such as this occurs, an injured individual might seek out financial compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages. By using evidence provided by witnesses, authorities and other sources, a personal injury lawyer might assemble a claim against the allegedly negligent defendant.
After taking the claim before a judge or negotiating a settlement, the plaintiff may receive compensation for losses stemming from the incident. If an individual negatively affected by the accident is unsure if they want to seek out compensation, a legal professional might be able to estimate the amount that might be awarded if the claim is successful.
