Tennessee truck accidents kills 3, injures 6
Three people were killed and six were injured in a Tennessee collision on June 27. Reports indicated that charges were pending for the tractor-trailer accident though information was withheld about the nature of the charges and who was being charged.
The accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. near mile marker 161 on eastbound Interstate 40 in Hickman County. Tennessee Highway Patrol officers said that a semi-truck without a trailer attached was attempting to pass a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling in the right lane. The driver of the Toyota then began to change lanes, but the vehicles collided as the Toyota struck the semi-truck with its rear driver’s side. The Toyota spun around and overturned into a roadside ditch to the right of the eastbound lanes while the semi-truck crossed the median into westbound traffic and struck a Mercury Grand Marquis. The semi-truck and the Mercury both overturned.
A 50-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in the Mercury died as a result of the accident. Six people suffered injuries in the crash.
Some car accidents result in injuries or deaths of multiple members of a family, which can significantly burden surviving relatives with funerary expenses, medical bills and the loss of their loved one’s income. Some families consider filing wrongful death or personal injury suits against the drivers or the owners of the vehicles involved in their accidents. Personal injury attorneys may be able to provide advice to families interested in seeking compensation from negligent drivers.
